OUR CHEF

Chef Juan Herrera first started his culinary adventures as a teenager,
watching and learning from the "Great chefs of the world" show on PBS he would grow and realize his dream of becoming a chef.

From prepping, to working the line at some of Americas most beautiful locations,
resorts, and Spas throughout the united states, he came back to his hometown in San diego, California where he worked at an american/ Mexican beachside diner concept restaurant under chef Gil Gonzalez .

Chef Herrera's love of travel and hunger for different cuisines has taken him to 48 states, after some extensive traveling he decided to take on the opportunity Working and taking on an Internship at Sorrel River Ranch, under Classically French trained Executive Chef Matt Janney , Chef Juan began his Sous Chef Tasks where he Picked up his love for Fine dining.

Shortly after he ended up Moving to the beautiful island of Oahu, Hawaii. Learning Hawaiian and Japanese cuisine he began his journey with
Chef, Moana lane In the north Shore of Oahu
@Sharks Cove grill restaurant, staying busy he also picked up experience at the Famous Haleiwa Joes in the North Shore,

after some time he was called on to work at Ke NUi Kitchen at The world Famous Location of Waimea Bay with
Owner, And restaurateur, Chef Thomas Naylor, where he would Start his journey into catering events, weddings, and private chef experiences all over The island of Oahu.

After 2 years, he moved to Austin Texas for the second time and polished his knowledge for the Art of BBQ.

Chef Herrera also took the time to continue his studies of the culinary arts and Finished and received his Catering certificate as well as a Personal chef Certificate from the international association of professionals Career College. { I.A.p.}

He also attended Penn Foster Career college to Study Gourmet Cooking and received his Diploma as a Gourmet Chef.

The chef is currently an active member and is working on growing his certification levels @ A.C.F. the American Culinary Federation.

After Covid closed everything down in march of 2020 in Austin, Texas he felt like it was time for a change so he came to Petersburg to work as a commercial fisherman and previously held the position of as the Culinary educator and Catering specialist at PMC Medical Center, His passion for food still Grows and would love to introduce his World Flavor Profiles to the People Of Petersburg Alaska!
